My Drascombe Lugger "Modestine" (named after Robert Louis Stevenson's donkey) is For Sale! £5,250 ono with the engine, or £4,750 without.
I bought her from Anglia Yachts in early 2010. They had done a great job of re-furbishing her; re-sprayed topsides, newly varnished spars and freshly oiled woodwork all round. The sails were all new, and the floor boards were new. The decks are Drascombe duck-egg blue and are showing their age (about mid 80s). I've filled some of the worst chips in the gel coat but there is still some staining.
She comes on a really great swinging trailer which makes launching and recovery so easy. First time I did this I was alone and it couldn't have been easier. Fortunately my reversing the car and trailer has improved since then.
When I bought her the boat came with nothing other than the new sails, a nearly new pair of oars and rowlocks, and the trailer. Since then I have fitted her out with the following:
x4 fenders
x4 mooring warps
x2 anchors with 5m chain each
x1 anchor warp (not sure how long but it's plenty long enough for most uses)
Engine: Tohatsu (2011) 4 HP 4 stroke with external fuel tank. Serviced each year and runs perfectly.
Modestine has been lightly used. In 2010 I made a trip to Wales and sailed on the Claddau, camping along the way. In 2011 we made a trip to Scotland to join the Drascombe Association rally. Beautiful though it was the week was mainly noted for its gales and horizontal rain. 2012 saw us in Falmouth and the Helford River. The boat wasn't used at all in 2013 due to a building project going on at our house and this year I've managed just two brief trips, one to Falmouth again and another to Chichester.
The Drascombe Lugger is a great boat to sail. Safe and steady and great for carrying camping gear and even sleeping aboard if you choose.
